What Are We Playing? Drug Dealers and Fortnite | April

April is upon us already, and that means we get to check in on the Cinelinx team to see what they are playing.

April is an interesting month. Instead of being jam packed with new releases like March, there are several re-releases of older games on new platforms like The Last Of Us Part 2 on PC, and Indiana Jones on PS5. That’s not to say there aren’t new games to play, but it potentially could be a good month to catch up on some of that backlog.

Two Point Museum – I finished Split Fiction rather quickly, and thus have the opportunity to return to this simulation game this month. I’m chasing that platinum trophy, but I already have multiple successful museums that are all in the fine tuning stages, which I find fun. It’s a process of organizing sections, assigning staff, and diving deeper into the micro-managing process.

Indiana Jones – Machine Games made one of my absolute favorite Nazi punching simulations (Wolfenstein), so I was sad when I didn’t get to play their Indiana Jones game and do some punching as Indy. Now that it’s coming to PS5 I can finally check it out! …. If we could just get Hellblade 2 to come on over, that’d be great….

Fortnite – What can I say, Fortnite and grabbed me yet again with constant updates with amazing content. The latest season has been nothing short of spectacular and now with the addition of Mortal Kombat content and possible Star Wars Content coming soon, I think I’m set to enjoy this game more every single day.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth / Square Enix

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth – After finishing Remake Intergrade, I told myself I’d take a break from Final Fantasy for a while but this game just kept calling my name. I’m glad I took the plunge again though, as Rebirth absolutely feels like the proper RPG that Square Enix wanted to make for this series all along. I can tell I’ll be putting lots of time into this one, you’ll probably see me talking about it again next month.

Haste: Broken Worlds – During the last Steam Next Fest event, I stumbled across a demo for this little gem. It had so much polish and pizzazz even as a demo that I happily jumped on it once developer Landfall shadow-dropped it without warning a couple days ago! This roguelike running-game combines Hades-esque character interaction with the hi-speed hijinx of a certain blue hedgehog to make for an incredibly entertaining time. The character designs are wonderful, too!

Schedule I – I don’t know if I’m proud of this, but I’ve been (perhaps fittingly) addicted to this sim-style game where you show up in a new town to build a drug empire up from the ground. Obviously neither I nor Cinelinx condones any sort of drug use, but the game’s refusal to take itself seriously mixed with its surprisingly complex systems has gripped me and refuses to let go.
