This week brought tons of trailers across movies and video games, meaning there are probably a few things you missed this week. Let’s check them out!

Shaun of the Dead Hits 4K Ultra HD in December

This week marked the 20th anniversary of Edgar Wright’s iconic, Shaun of the Dead. To celebrate, Universal announced the film is coming to 4K Ultra HD for the first time later this year, with an all new bonus feature (along with the previous ones).

Starship Troopers: Extermination Collector’s Edition Up for Pre-Sale

Developers Knights Peak have partnered up with Limited Run Games for a swanky collector’s edition of Starship Troopers: Extermination. The game exits early access and fully launches on all devices October 11th, but pre-order for this LRG edition are live now (and end on October 27th).

New Poster and TV Spot for Moana 2

Disney’s upcoming animated sequel, Moana 2, got a new TV spot this week to show off some new footage (and music). Even better, there’s a good looking new poster to enjoy as well!

After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.

Moana 2 hits theaters on November 27, 2024.

Synduality Echo of Ada Gets a Release Date

Bandai Namco’s upcoming mech-shooter, Synduality Echo of Ada, got a release date this week, courtesy of the Tokyo Game Show and a new trailer.

SYNDUALITY ECHO OF ADA takes place in 2222, years after a mysterious poisonous rain called “The Tears of the New Moon” wiped out most of humanity and birthed deformed creatures that now hunt the remaining population. In this PvPvE extraction shooter, players will step in the shoes of Drifters, daring mech pilots who make a living collecting AO crystals, a rare resource. They pilot mechs – CRADLECOFFINS – with a Magus, an AI partner, who helps them in battle with unique combat abilities. A player’s Magus also provides directions, hints, and warnings to the player to help them safely navigate the ruins in order to survive…and keep the loot they collect. The CRADLECOFFIN are parts and weapon loadouts are highly customizable to fit every player’s gameplay style.

Synduality Echo of Ada hits PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PCs on January 23, 2025.

Empire of Ants TGS Gameplay Trailer

Speaking of the Tokyo Game Show, the hyper-realistic RTS game, Empire of Ants, got 8-minutes of gameplay footage to ooh and ahh over.

Immerse yourself in an ant-scale ecosystem in the heart of the Fontainebleau forest. You play as the 103,683rd ant determined to protect its colony. With Empire of the Ants, every decision matters, every move is strategic, and every conquest reflects your skill in exploring a world where the small are mighty! Strategy, exploration, battles, and alliances with local fauna will be necessary to overcome the many challenges awaiting players.

 

Developed by Tower Five using Unreal Engine 5, the video game Empire of the Ants will offer players a real-time strategic experience inspired by Bernard Werber’s iconic saga. Players will dive into a thrilling adventure where they must make a colony of ants prosper through tactical and strategic battles in a world of enormous proportions. Strategy, exploration, battles, and alliances with local fauna will be necessary to emerge victorious from the many challenges awaiting players.

Empire of Ants hits PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PCs on November 7, 2024.

Unknown 9: Awakening Overview Trailer

Bandai Namco released a new overview trailer for Unknown 9: Awakening, to give players a crash course on the new world they’ll be exploring.

Get up to speed on the story of the protagonist for Unknown 9: Awakening, Haroona, a powerful young woman with supernatural abilities on a quest to protect humanity’s secrets from a ruthless, shadowy organization. In a new trailer, discover more about her powers, when to wield them and how to upgrade them to gain the upper hand against those who stand in her path. Whether you prefer hand-to-hand combat or favor a stealthier approach, learn to master the full extent of her Umbric powers including taking control of her enemies and set them up for devastating chains of events.

Unknown 9: Awakening hits PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Consoles, and PCs on October 18, 2024.

First Trailer for Elevation

This week brought us the first trailer for the upcoming creature feature (which I’m always a sucker for), Elevation, which stars Anthony Mackie and Morena Baccarin.

Set in the post-apocalyptic Rocky Mountains, a single father and two women venture from the safety of their homes to face monstrous creatures to save the life of a young boy.

Elevation hits theaters on November 8, 2024.

New Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2: Future Saga Chapter 2 Trailer

Bandai Namco revealed a teaser trailer for the upcoming Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 DLC, Future Saga: Chapter 2. No release date, but it’s looking pretty good!

DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 is the ultimate Dragon Ball gaming experience, packed with thrilling action, epic battles, and endless customization options. Players can create their own character, explore Conton City and team up with iconic characters from the series as a teacher to train and be ready to battle against formidable enemies to rescue the flow of History. DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 is currently available on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch™, and PC via Steam.

The Last of Us Season 2 Trailer

The Last of Us Day arrived this week, and HBO gave fans a treat in the form of the first trailer for the second season of the show. On top of looking gorgeous, fans of the game are getting their first looks at a number of iconic characters and heartbreaking moments. Season 2 premieres on HBO/Max at some point in 2025.
