Turtle Beach has rolled out a suped-up version of their affordable Recon series with the Recon Spark. How does it fare in our stress test? What are the pros and cons? Here is our official review!
There are a ton of things I absolutely adore about the Turtle Beach Recon Spark. For starters, it features improved durability with the metal frame, while maintaining its lightweight feel. The Recon Spark also features a mic with crystal clear performance, so even if when you’re in a heated situation, your party will understand every bit of your call-outs (or rants).
Add that to the powerful sound quality and the noise-cancellation and it’s crazy that the Recon Spark only costs $49.95. I fully believed this was, at least, somewhere in the $60-$70 range.
My main negative has to do with the fabric of the ear cushions. Unlike other Turtle Beach models, which employ more of a light to heavy leather-type fabric, the Recon Spark uses a thick almost-memory foam fabric. It’s great for cancelling out all ambient noise, but tends to get hot and tight on the ears, after prolonged gameplay.
Despite that, though, the Turtle Beach Recon Spark is a tremendous piece of hardware. Like its Recon brethren, it doesn’t sport any bells and whistles, but it more than makes up for it gorgeous sound quality. Plus, the design and color scheme is definitely my favorite of all the Turtle Beach headsets I’ve seen and used. I hope Turtle Beach continues to add more flair to their headsets. It doesn’t add anything to the performance, but it does allow their headsets and the gamers that use them to stand out even more.
The Turtle Beach Recon Spark will release on July 28, 2019 and is available to pre-order now at the official Turtle Beach store.
