How fun is it to be a Tomb Raider fan these days?
Amazon has been ramping up production for their exclusive Tomb Raider series expected to hit Prime Video, and one of the biggest steps seems to be finalizing. Sophie Turner, known as Sansa Stark from Game of Thrones is expected to finalize her deal to star as Lara Croft in the series.
Sophie was not only phenomenal in Game of Throne but she was also Emmy Nominated for the role. And speaking of awards, the person behind the camera will be Phoebe Waller-Bridge, which was also Emmy nominated for the Fleabag series and Killing Eve. She also has experience with treasure hunting as she recently starred in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
Sophie won’t be the first to take the reign of Lara Croft as Angelina Jolie first portrayed her in film, and Alicia Vikander played her in the most recent movie release. On Netflix Hayley Atwell has been her voice in a new animated series.
There currently is much more to go on with the series though, or who else is being cast for supporting characters. Amazon purchased licensing rights to Tomb Raider back in January last year for over 600 million dollars, and has since been inching closer to creating the new series. Along with the new animated series, and Prime Video series, is a new game set to utilize the new Unreal Engine as well.
