At long last, more information about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was revealed at today’s Nintendo Direct.
Aside from knowing that the next game in the Metroid Prime series, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, was due to be released in 2025, fans didn’t really know anything about the game.
Until now that is.
Earlier today during the Nintendo Direct livestream, fans were treated to a full length trailer focusing on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and a bit of what the game would entail, including new powers that Samus will wield.
Check it out in the official trailer below:
First of all, everything about this game looks amazing. The mysterious planet looks to be full of obstacles and monsters for players to overcome, just as one would expect from a proper Metroid game. And then there’s the new psychic abilities Samus will be able to wield. As a relative newcomer, I wasn’t sure how Nintendo could add on to a series that’s already done so much, but these psychic abilities are going to be an absolute game-changer (pun fully intended).
I also like that the basic gameplay of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond seems to be the same as ever: players can explore and scan items to gain more information and it all takes place from a first person perspective. The only question I have for now is, will this game have any connection to the events of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (released all the way back in 2007 mind you), or is this the start of a whole new saga for Samus?
Only time will tell, but I think players are going to have a fun time finding out. There’s no release date yet for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, but hopefully that information will be revealed soon.
