Blizzard continues to use Gamescom to dive into the upcoming expansion for Diablo IV, Vessel of Hatred. Today’s info drop comes in the form of a new “Inside the Game” video released by Blizzard this morning. Check it out:
Featuring segments hosted by Brent Gibson, Game Director, Kayleigh Calder, Lead Game Producer, Rex Dickson, Lead Game Engineer, and Richie Marella, Associate Art Directory, Concepts, the almost 8 minute video walks fans through the new regions, and enemies they will be facing in Vessel of Hatred.
Along with high-level overviews of the areas and enemies players will be facing, the video also digs a bit deeper into the mercenaries feature releasing with the expansion, finally revealing their names, and how players go about acquiring them, as well as their skill trees, which are far more advanced and in depth than the skill trees seen for Diablo III’s mercenaries. I can definitely say I agree with Rex, when he talks about the fun to be had with not only tailoring a mercenary for a particular play style, but also, tuning that mercenary to compliment a player’s character build for an ultimate team up experience.
We also get a view into the upcoming PVE experience, “The Dark Citadel”, an endgame dungeon built around challenging players with puzzles, and bosses. From the sounds of this dungeon, a lot of players are about to get a dose of what it’s like to run things in World of Warcraft.
Vessel of Hatred is available for pre-order now, and launches on 10/8/2024
