I have a new publisher that lately I have been very much a fan of, as their titles have had me coasting on a wave of warm bubbly nostalgia, while furiously mashing buttons on my switch. That studio my friends is Dotemu, a French publishing and development house that has brought us Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge and a very, very well done, Streets of Rage 4.
Continuing with the modernization of childhood favorites, Dotemu has announced, a brand-new entry into the Ninja Gaiden series, releasing on PC, Switch, Xbox and Playstation consoles in summer of 2025. Titled Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound this new tale in the Ninja Gaiden picks up after the events of the NES version of Ninja Gaiden which sees Ryu Hyabusa travel to America to avenge his father’s death. Left without their famed guardian, the Hyabusa clan must turn to young ninja, Kenji Mozu to defend their village and people from a rising demonic threat cause by the tearing of the veil between the human and demon world.
Developed by Spanish studio The Game Kitchen (the folks that brought us Blasphemous and Blasphemous 2) Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is a 2-D side scrolling hack and slash that features the high speed, challenging combat the Ninja Gaiden series has been know for and is rendered in the vibrant pixel art style we’ve come to expect from The Game Kitchen and Dotemu games. Check out the gallery below for some shots of the action.
Promising challenging combat, behemoth boss fights and spike pits a plenty, and of course, hidden collectibles, and upgradeable abilities, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound has all the makings of another hit for Dotemu and The Game Kitchen. Check out the trailer for the game here.
