David Hayter teased pretty directly that he is back in the booth to voice Snake, from Metal Gear.Â
It’s been pretty fun to be a Metal Gear fan recently. We finally got the game on a modern console with the recent collection release, and new trailer for the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 look phenomenal, with some hidden details.
Now the iconic voice actor behind the voice of Snake in the first 3 games is seemingly back at it again.
I was in the booth today.
Playing a role I’ve not played, since…

Hayter posted the above post on X, and then followed it up with a gif of Snake in MGS3 remake. It could simply be hinting at the fact he returned to the booth to clean up, or add, some lines for the upcoming remake of the original game, or could it mean something more?
The timing makes it likely that it isn’t the MGS3 remake considering how close to release it is, but who knows. And Konami recently mentioned they have intentions of continuing the series by utilizing people that were involved with the original series to continue on for “10-50 years” via new iterations. So it’s likely not a remake of MGS1, sadly, but a new number in the series if it is anything new.
Which is interesting in itself considering MGS4 considerably ended the saga by aging Snake to basically death, and killing off iconic characters in the series. But much like the history of MGS, no one is really ever “dead” and anything is possible.
And to top things off, Konami has recently explained that a new generation of gamers “don’t know what Metal Gear is,” so another iteration that again goes backwards and dives into the history of Metal Gear could go over well.
Or this could not be entirely involved with Konami at all. When other games do crossover events to include Snake they often utilize pre-recorded audio, or Hayter himself, to voice the iconic Snake. So for all we know this could just be a Smash Bros style event, or even a commercial for the MGS3 remake.
