Turtle Beach announced in March that the company acquired ROCCAT, a German PC peripherals company known for mice and keyboards. At E3, the pair showcased the latest accessories coming later this summer and fall to PC and consoles.
I had a chance to get a look at the peripherals and, boy, it sure seems like time for an upgrade.
Turtle Beach showed the Recon Spark, a multiplatform gaming headset that features glasses-friendly leatherette ear cushions made from memory foam supported by a metal-reinforced headband, securing the 40mm over-ear speakers to deliver the slightest hint of footsteps of a nearby enemy in clarity. The flip-up mic is blends seamlessly into the headset when not in use.Â
The white and lavender colored headset is designed for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC (including a PC splitter cable) in addition to mobile compatibility. The Recon Spark will be available for $49.95 in late July.
Alongside the Recon Spark, ROCCAT unveiled their newest mouse series: the Kain AIMO.
“The starting vision was to create the best possible click, but this evolved into a meticulous analysis of every part of the mouse,” a press release said. “The brand remastered each detail, from the shape to the internal mechanics to the surface material.”
ROCCAT announced three variants of the mouse: Kain 100 AIMO carries the company’s Pro-Optic sensor for 8,500 dpi accuracy in addition to texturized side grips; Kain 120 AIMO features the latest version of ROCCAT’s Owl-Eye 16k optical sensor; Kain 200 AIMO is the wireless mouse in the series.
“All three models have the same shape: born of a meticulous process involving two years of research, testing and hearing feedback from beta-testers and what customers truly want. The idea was to create an ergonomic shape that doesn’t strictly position the hand into a specific grip style,” the company said in a recent press release. “The performance and accuracy of the shape is enhanced by an evolutionary new coating. It is grippy, durable and dirt resistant thanks to a hybrid anti-wear UV coating. Combined with a light weight of only 89 grams, the Kain AIMO 100 and 120 are agile and comfortable in hand. All variants of the Kain are available in black and white. Its split buttons design not only supports the click mechanism but also adds to its sophisticated aesthetics. In addition, the Kain is a new addition to the AIMO ecosystem, synergizing with other AIMO products to create a vivid aesthetic without the need for extensive configuration.”
All Kain series mice will be available in black and white. The 100 and 120 will launch in September for $49.99 and $69.99 respectively, with the wireless 200 following in November for $99.99.
The mice are available for pre-order from the ROCCAT website in the UK, France, Germany and Austria.
ROCCAT brought along some of the Vulcan series mechanical keyboards and, man, the Recon Spark’s white and lavender paired quite beautifully with the keyboard and white Kain series mouse.
I’m looking forward to what the companies have coming in the future.
