Happy Independence Day! The most of you will be watching fireworks, eating good food, and spending time with loved ones. Though this country has seen many hardships in the last few years, we can only hope that some of you are at least able to have a stress-free weekend with friends and loved ones.
For those of you that will be alone this weekend or are taking a break from fighting for your God-given rights as a human, here are a few games themed around a patriotic setting that could make us relax…or just get mad at the horrible system we have in place:
ASSASSINS CREED III
Set during the American Revolution, in Assassins Creed III you play as Conner, a Native American Assassin who finds himself entwined in a political life or death game of chess.
This was by far one of the best games in the series and you can now play better than ever! Assassin’s Creed III Remaster was released in 2019 and has revamped graphics, gameplay mechanics, and is bundled with Assassin’s Creed III Liberation and all original DLC.
SAINT ROW IV – RE-ELECTED
I mean…what can I really say that we don’t already know about Saints Row, with over-the-top action, hilarious mature jokes and settings Saints Row has just gotten crazier and crazier. Though Volition and Deep Silver are relaunching the series soon, Saints Row Re-Elected was one of the most ridiculous and hilarious in the series.
In Saints Row Re-Elected you play as the President of the United States, the world is invaded by aliens, and you get Super Powers and take down the aliens in the name of Freedom. All I can say is…MERICA. THAT IS ALL.
METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER
Honestly, if you are reading this and know nothing of this game or the Metal Gear Solid series…I’m done with you. Metal Gear Solid is one of the greatest series ever created, though Hideo Kojima is no longer with Konami, I can only hope that this game series is eventually revisited with his involvement.
With the recent announcement of a Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake coming next year now is the perfect time to replay this title. MGS3 is for sure a great patriotic title you play on this holiday…so stop reading and just watch this amazing trailer above.
WOLFENSTEIN II: THE NEW COLOSSUS
What’s more patriotic than killing Nazi-Scum on July 4th? Nothing. In Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, you play as BJ Blazkowicz and Nazi’s have invaded the shores of America. Now it is time for BJ and his team to take down this threat to Freedom and clean the streets of this Nazi Invasion for good!
BIOSHOCK INFINTE REMASTERED
The Bioshock series has always taken us on some wild journeys, but Bioshock Infinite was one of the wildest in the series. Set in 1912, you play as Brooker Dewitt, sent on a mission to “save the girl and his debits will be wiped away”.
Facing many challenges that are very similar to previously events of BioShock 1, Bioshock Infinite’s introduction of political, racial, religious themes make it one of the most interesting and thrilling stories in gaming history!
