Hands-On With the Turtle Beach Recon 500 Wired Gaming Headset (Video Review)

In our latest tech review, we’re testing out the Turtle Beach Recon 500 Wired Gaming Headset, the multiplatform headset that sports some technological firsts for Turtle Beach headsets, like 60mm Eclipse Dual Drivers and AccuTune Wood Composite Ear Cups. This is our official review for the Turtle Beach Recon 500.

At the beginning of last month, Turtle Beach revealed the next iteration in the popular Turtle Beach Recon series, the Recon 500. Unlike the previous versions, the Recon 500s feature new tech that has never been seen in a Turtle Beach headset thus far, 60mm Eclipse Dual Drivers and AccuTune wood composite ear cups.

These two new features offer unreal sound that absolutely blew me away with its crispness and clarity. In comparing the Recon 500 with other gaming headsets within that price range, those other headsets sounded hollow compared to the rich sound experience that the Recon 500 offers.

While I wasn’t completely sold on the design or even the bar at the top of the headset, the ear cushions provided amazing comfort for long-term gaming. They embrace your ears like a nice warm hug that also happens to block out most of the ambient sound around you.

Find out more of my likes and dislikes of the Turtle Beach Recon 500 Wired Gaming Headset in the video review above. You can also purchase your own, here.
