Earlier, our team shared the films they’re most excited about in 2024, but today is all about the video games we can’t wait to play!
As per usual, quite a few of the games we were looking forward to in 2023, managed to slip into the New Year…So you’ll see some duplicates here and there from last year’s article. That said, there’s no shortage of awesome looking games on the horizon to get hyped for.
As such, we’ve tasked our gaming team to limit themselves to the FIVE video game titles they’re looking forward to most in 2024:
Jordan
Star Wars: Outlaws – I’m not entirely convinced this won’t be delayed into 2025, but it sure looks like Ubisoft has been hard at work on this one, so I’m willing to be hopeful! Just the fact we’re getting a new Star Wars game is reason enough to have it listed here, but what we’ve seen so far of the open world game has me more than anxious to fire this up. While I’m eager to see the gaming side of things explore different eras/periods of time, there’s plenty of potential here for fun.
Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth – It wasn’t until Final Fantasy VII Remake that I actually got into FF7. I never played the original, or any of its spin-offs, though I was largely aware of the story beats thanks to its prevalence in pop-culture. When I finally got the chance to see what all the hubbub was about for myself, however, I was blown away. I understand why my friends had always been pushing me to get into it. As such, I’ve been eager to see how the story continues and Rebirth looks all kinds of gorgeous. I’m just glad we aren’t having to wait as long as we did for the previous entry.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown – I’ve been dying for a new Prince of Persia game for a LONG time. Hell, I’ve been waiting pretty much since the FIRST Assassin’s Creed game came out for Ubisoft to come back to this franchise. I was hopeful with the Sands of Time remake, but with that delayed and facing issues, I was thrilled when they revealed The Lost Crown. While it’s taking a different approach than the more recent predecessors, I’m thrilled with what they’ve shown so far and can’t wait to dive back into that world.
Dragon Age: Dreadwolf – Honestly, who knows if Dreadwolf is actually going to hit in 2024, but after all this time, I imagine this is when we’ll finally get it. Inquisition was such a stellar game in both the story and overall execution, with impactful choices I labored over for days (sometimes) in my original playthrough. After years of teasing, I’m eager to see where the story goes next for Bioware’s fantasy RPG.
Homeworld 3 – Fans of the Sci-Fi RTS franchise have been waiting over (by the time it hits) 20 years now for a Homeworld 3. Based on everything we’ve seen, the wait will have been more than worth it and a thrilling return to the franchise. From an engaging new story to epic battles, the only thing I’m concerned with is making sure my computer can actually run it when it arrives.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown – I’m a relative latecomer to the Prince of Persia games, but I’ve learned enough to know that it’s been a while since we had an entry in the series. As a result, my ears perked up when The Lost Crown was revealed. While I’m disappointed the game is following a new character and not the iconic Prince, I’m excited to see what this game adds to the ongoing story. And who knows, maybe we’ll get to see the Prince before the story is over!
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League – I might regret this, but I am currently looking forward to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. I have some pretty compelling reasons: it’s set in the Arkhamverse for one, and it also features the last performance from the late Kevin Conroy as Batman. While I know the first look at the game wasn’t very well received, I’m hopeful the long delay means they’ve corrected those issues.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered – I’m aware there’s a heated argument over whether or not this game should even exist, but I’m not going to complain after seeing how amazing Part I looked on the PS5. The fact that they’re adding new modes and other content makes this worthwhile for me, and it doesn’t hurt that they’re making it affordable to upgrade if you already own the game on PS4.
Little Nightmares III – Little Nightmares is the horror video game series I didn’t know I needed until I saw the reveal trailer for this game. Since then I’ve dived headfirst into the original Little Nightmares and everything I’ve seen makes me more than eager to dive into Little Nightmares III as soon as it’s available. It looks like a frightening continuation of the game world, along with including new features like two player co-op.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II – I’ve been intrigued by this series ever since I learned how the first game portrays mental illness. If this game handles the topic even half as well, this could easily be a GOTY contender. I’m eager to see what more is to come from Senua’s story.

Dragons Dogma 2 – Though I never got around to playing the first Dragons Dogma, Capcom recently revealed the game was coming March of 2024 and with that showcased a ton of gameplay, the creation system, as well as what the story will be mainly focused around. After seeing these details and what the games looks and runs like on the RE Engine, it is for sure now one of my Most Anticipated Games of 2024. There is nothing better than a good, action driven RPG to sink hours into to really take you away from all the stresses of our modern day lives.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League – As a fan of the studio, I was initially disappointed by the games recent delay, but I understand that the developers took this step to ensure that the game is of the highest quality and meets fans’ expectations.
The delay comes after WB Games faced some setbacks with the release of “Gotham Knights,” and it’s understandable that they want to avoid any further disappointment. I appreciate Rocksteady’s commitment to delivering a polished and functional game, and I’m confident that the extra time and effort put into the development will be worth it.
Based on what we’ve seen so far, Kill the Justice League promises to be an immersive and exciting gaming experience. The game’s unique storyline, gameplay mechanics, and presentation are all designed to offer fans an authentic and satisfying experience. I’m particularly excited about the open-world gameplay and the opportunity to play as some of DC Comics’ most iconic villains.
I believe Rocksteady’s decision to delay the game was the right one, and I’m looking forward to the final product. I have no doubt that Kill the Justice League will be a game that lives up to fans’ expectations and sets a new standard for superhero games.
Tekken 8 – With significant enhancements to graphics, gameplay, and storyline Tekken 8 looks like a big step forward for the franchise. The utilization of Bandai Namco’s Unreal Engine has elevated the game to a new level of visual realism and fluidity. Furthermore, similar to Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8 will include a new hub for both single-player and online gaming. Thus allowing players to explore and unlock a vast array of items to customize their fighters. All things considered, Tekken 8 is shaping up to be one of the most impressive fighting games of the year.

Nightingale – Survival crafting has been a genre I’ve fallen in love with over the last four years, along with roguelike elements that Infelxion Games founder Aaryn Flynn, a previous BioWare general manager, explained to me at Summer Game Fest in 2021. You’ll set up shop wherever you want, but you’ll have the power to endless explore thanks to realm cards where you explore and survive (I’m going to use some quotes from our chat to give context to my excitement).
“Is it a forest? Is it a swamp? Is it a desert?” Flynn told me at Summer Game Fest Play Days. “Whatever it is, you get to control the creatures in the portal, you control how difficult or easy it is, you get to set things like whether its always nighttime. You can manipulate the weather and, gameplay wise, different environments will have different challenges or different rewards.”
This gameplay loop is called Realm Diving, Flynn explained, “You decide where you’re gonna stay and then keep going further and further. But you will have a but of a story leading you through, trying to take you to find NPCs, take you on certain adventures until you eventually reach the ultimate conclusion of that adventure and achieve some cool stuff.”
And the game’s inspiration is directly from BioWare titles, where many of Infelxion Games’ team members have worked in the past.
“A lot [of inspiration] coming from BioWare, myself included, we’ve made high fantasy games, we’ve made sci-fi games, so we really liked the idea of making a contemporary fantasy game. Something that is more grounded in the real world and that’s more relatable with outfits you may recognize and stuff like that. We loved that idea and thought the survival crafting genre was a great match for that.”
Nightingale releases on February 22.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth – I’ve been a Final Fantasy girly/dude my entire life, so it’s only natural that part two of the FF7 Remake is on my radar. I love the OG, I loved part one, and even got to visit Shinra Electric Power Company at the last-ever in person E3. We’re getting the long-awaited middle chapter in the trilogy, and then it’ll be back to waiting patiently. Peak gamer cycle of life.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth releases on February 29.
Rise of the Ronin – Team Ninja’s latest game is set in 19th-century Japan in a combat-focused open-world action RPG.
“Japan, 1863. After three centuries of the Tokugawa Shogunate’s oppressive rule, the Black Ships of the West descend upon the nation’s borders and the country falls into a state of turmoil. Amidst the chaos of war, disease and political unrest, a nameless warrior forges their own path, holding the very fate of Japan in their hands.”
Rise of the Ronin releases on March 22.
